Softball Recap: Scranton Comes Up Short

Scranton had lost 13 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-16 to make it 14. They lost 11-1 to the North Pocono Trojans. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly ten runs.

As for North Pocono, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for North Pocono, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For North Pocono's part, they let Riley Grambo and Alyssa Lynch run wild. Grambo got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double, while Lynch went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Grambo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Ambrosecchia, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scranton will head out to challenge Scranton Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.12 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Pocono, they will venture away from home to take on Delaware Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.58 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
