Basketball Recap: Bertrand's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

Bertrand dropped to 1-2 on Monday, ending the team's 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Elm Creek Buffaloes, falling 65-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since December 5, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Bertrand lost, don't look at Scottie Bieker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. Bieker is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Thunder Nelson, who posted 12 points and eight steals.

As for Elm Creek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 67.0 points this season.

Leading Elm Creek to victory were Quin Oberg and Kolten Keim. Oberg shot 52% from the field on his way to 25 points and six steals, while Keim went 6-for-7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and four steals. Those 18 points gave Keim a new career-high. Blake Erickson was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Bertrand has already played their next matchup, a 66-61 victory against Pleasanton on the 12th. As for Elm Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-40 win against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on the 12th.
