Basketball Recap: Chico Comes Up Short

Chico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 73-48 to the Alvord Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-52 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Chico lost, don't look at Jordan Weiland. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. That was a full 43.8% of Chico's points, marking the 12th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zane Watson, who scored six points and four steals.

Chico's defeat dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Alvord, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chico will take on Slidell at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Slidell will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Chico surely won't give up without a fight. Alvord has already played their next game (against Era), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
