Baseball Recap: Fairview Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Fairview barely beat Northwestern the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers beat the Wildcats on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jake Milam and Robert Benford made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Milam tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Benford struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game. At bat, Milam went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Benford got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That double marked the first that Milam has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Hennessy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Jewell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Fairview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwestern only posted an OBP of .308.

Fairview pushed their record up to 4-0-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
