Basketball Recap: Jackson Beats Straughn for Their Third Straight Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Jackson walked away with it. They walked away with a 53-44 victory over the Straughn Tigers on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Aggies, who have now won three games in a row.

Jackson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angel Powell led the charge by dropping a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. Powell has been hot, having posted ten or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Jalayzia Hunt was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Straughn lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Addy Carter, who posted 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Annlee Wise, who put up 13 points and five boards.

Jackson's victory bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Straughn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-10.

Looking ahead, Jackson will face off against Orange Beach at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Straughn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
