Baseball Recap: Clear Creek Wins Going Away Against South Park

Clear Creek barely beat South Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golddiggers were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Burros on Friday. With that win, the Golddiggers brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.

Landon Lewis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Clear Creek: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 1-2 otherwise. Lewis was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ski Hull, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Zephyr Schuessler was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Clear Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory got Clear Creek back to even at 3-3. As for South Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Clear Creek will head out on the road to face off against Denver Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golddiggers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for South Park, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Kiowa at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
