Basketball Recap: Strom Thurmond Comes Up Short

Strom Thurmond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 69-44 to the Union County Yellowjackets. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 52-47.

When it comes to explaining why Strom Thurmond lost, don't look at AJ Walker. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Thompson, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Union County was led to victory by Ashton Stewart and Eric Gray. Stewart had 16 points, while Gray put up 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jamison Parks, who posted nine points.

Strom Thurmond's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Union County, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-7.

Strom Thurmond is taking a road trip to take on Mid-Carolina at 8:00 p.m. on January 8th. As for Union County, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Mountain View Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
