Baseball Recap: Webberville Takes a Loss

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Webberville's offense. They fell just short of the Merrill Vandals by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Vandals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

AUSTIN JOHNSON spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks. Webberville is 2-1 when JOHNSON allows two or fewer hits, but 4-6-1 otherwise.

Webberville now has a losing record of 6-7-1. As for Merrill, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Webberville will venture away from home to challenge Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Merrill, they will take on Holton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
