Basketball Recap: Shaw Comes Up Short

Shaw lost against Lorain back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. 2025 welcomed the Shaw Cardinals with a 56-34 loss courtesy of the Lorain Titans.

Lorain's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Miller, who posted six points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Brajhia Phillips, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points and six rebounds.

Shaw's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Lorain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shaw will venture away from home to take on Brush at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lorain, they will head out to face off against Valley Forge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
