Baseball Recap: Spanish River Triumphs

Spanish River's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They skirted past the Coral Springs Charter Panthers 10-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sharks considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Dylan Werblow looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since March 4th.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Shane Price, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Spanish River: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew DeRosa, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Spanish River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Spanish River is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Coral Springs Charter's loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish River will head out to face off against Dwyer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
