Baseball Recap: Scranton Prep Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Scranton Prep had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Wallenpaupack Area Buckhorns by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday. The Cavaliers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Buckhorns, too.

Paul Rusincovitch was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Rusincovitch was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael DeRichie, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Scranton Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wallenpaupack Area struck out seven times.

Scranton Prep's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Wallenpaupack Area, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
