Volleyball Recap: Laguna Beach Breakers vs. Santa Margarita Eagles
Laguna Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Santa Margarita Eagles.
Laguna Beach took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 19-25, 26-28, 25-18, 15-11.
Kai Patchell paced Laguna Beach's offense, picking up 34 kills. Patchell got some help from Ben Goodwin and his 46 assists. Patchell was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.
Laguna Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Santa Margarita, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Laguna Beach wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Portola on the 4th. As for Santa Margarita, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Classical Academy on the 7th.
