Millard North falls despite strong effort from Sara Harley

Recap: Millard North Mustangs vs. Lincoln Northeast Rockets

The Millard North Mustangs fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Lincoln Northeast Rockets on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 75-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (61), Millard North still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Millard North lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sara Harley. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Harley scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avril Smith, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.

Lincoln Northeast got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Doneelah Washington out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Washington is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Aleziah Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with nine rebounds.

Millard North's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Lincoln Northeast, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Millard North will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Elkhorn North on January 20th. As for Lincoln Northeast, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lincoln East at 5:45 p.m.
