Volleyball Recap: Cobre Has No Trouble Against Chaparral

Cobre won the last time they faced Chaparral and things went their way on Thursday too. The Indians were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lobos. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-16, 25-10.

Hayley Gutierrez paced Cobre's offense, picking up 16 kills. Gutierrez got some help from Isis Dominguez and her 30 assists. Dominguez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Despite the loss, Chaparral had strong showings from Diana Valenzuela, who had 20 digs, and Yoselin Herrera, who had 11 digs and six assists. Valenzuela is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Cobre's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Chaparral, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Cobre has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Silver on the 17th. As for Chaparral, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Hot Springs on the 16th.
