Basketball Recap: Millard West Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Millard West won the last time they faced Buena Vista, and Carter LaBorde did his part to make sure it happened again. The Millard West Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Buena Vista Bison on Monday, sneaking past 76-74 thanks in part to LaBorde, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (five).

Reece Carson was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 21 points. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Despite the loss, Buena Vista still got an impressive performance from LC Doss, who went 13 of 19 on his way to 41 points along with six boards and five assists. Doss is becoming a predictor of Buena Vista's success: when he posts at least 25 points the team is 5-2 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Jarmon, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds.

Millard West's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4. As for Buena Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Millard West will have a chance to go back-to-back against Buena Vista: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on January 7th.
