Baseball Recap: Sparta Victorious

Sparta posted their closest win since April 15th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Spokane Owls. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Trent Eisman tossed a big game, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Conner Robinson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Austin Humble was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Sparta's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Spokane, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 16 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Sparta didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-1 loss against Seymour on the 12th. As for Spokane, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-1 defeat against Wheatland on the 9th.
