Basketball Recap: Shania Leubin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lemon Bay over Lakewood Ranch

Lemon Bay was the 56-52 winner over Lakewood Ranch when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Manta Rays fell 39-28 to the Mustangs on Friday.

Lemon Bay's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shania Leubin, who posted seven points and three steals. Leubin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Monica Heeg, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Lemon Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lakewood Ranch, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lemon Bay and Hardee will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lakewood Ranch will take on Palmetto in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
