Basketball Recap: Redwood Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clovis East, Redwood was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They strolled past the Mt. Whitney Pioneers with points to spare, taking the game 59-42. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Pioneers are ranked 1180th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Redwood has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for Mt. Whitney, they dropped their record down to 2-20 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Redwood has already played their next matchup (against Porterville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mt. Whitney will be playing in front of their home fans against Golden West at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
