Anchor Bay had won three straight at home, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 11-9 to make it four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Utica Chieftains. The win continues a trend for the Tars in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now won six in a row.

Austin McMahon was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zac Kruper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Anchor Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.4.

As for Utica, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

On Utica's side, Denver Billy was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Michael Hoppe was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anchor Bay will face off against St. Clair at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Utica, they will square off against Cousino at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
