Softball Recap: Kinley Norcross Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hernando

Crystal River had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hernando Leopards a 4-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Leopards: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Violet Flynn, who gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Hernando off the board. Flynn has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 24 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Crystal River saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinley Norcross, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Athena Childs, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Crystal River hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hernando struck out 13 times.

Crystal River's victory bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Hernando, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10-1 record this season.
