Whitehaven has gone 9-0-1 against Overton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Tigers came out on top against the Falcons on Tuesday by a score of 9-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Andrew Robinson and Jaylon Dodson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Robinson didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Dodson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Whitehaven: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-4-1 otherwise. At bat, Robinson went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Dodson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Whitehaven got a massive performance out of Ramar Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The Tigers are 4-1 when Smith posts two or more runs, but 0-4-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dedrick Marshall, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Whitehaven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Overton came up short against Southwind on Thursday, falling 16-6.
Antwan Hooker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Kehrli, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Whitehaven's victory bumped their record up to 4-5-1. As for Overton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5-1.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Whitehaven hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Overton struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
