Basketball Game Preview: North Callaway Thunderbirds vs. Elsberry Indians

The North Callaway Thunderbirds will challenge the Elsberry Indians at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. North Callaway is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.

North Callaway is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Louisiana on Thursday. North Callaway came out on top against Louisiana by a score of 59-52.

Dalton Brewer and Jamarion Glover were among the main playmakers for North Callaway as the former went 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points and three steals and the latter almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Brewer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Brown, who posted seven points.

North Callaway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Elsberry came up short against Winfield on Tuesday, falling 67-45. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

North Callaway's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Elsberry, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

North Callaway couldn't quite finish off Elsberry in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 57-54. Can North Callaway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
