Baseball Recap: Chatham Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Chatham dropped their record down to 9-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 16-5 to the Ballston Spa Scotties. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 9-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Bronson Haner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Cooper Steltz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Ballston Spa, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Ballston Spa's side, Thomas Driver looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Driver has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on James Haughton, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Lofink, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Chatham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-5 victory against Catskill on the 2nd. As for Ballston Spa, they are taking a road trip to take on Guilderland at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
