Baseball Recap: Oak Hall Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oak Hall had no problem doing just that on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Saint Francis Catholic Wolves 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 24th.

Gavin Jones was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Oak Hall's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 6-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Rosenstone, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Oak Hall is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Francis Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Wolves beat Oak Hall by a score of 10-7 on Tuesday.
