Softball Recap: Maplewood Tigers vs. Cochranton Cardinals
Maplewood was the 4-3 winner over Cochranton when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Maplewood Tigers took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cochranton Cardinals on Tuesday.
For Cochranton's part, Brooklyn Needler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. Needler has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Claudia Lippert was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Danielle Hoffman was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Maplewood dropped their record down to 7-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cochranton, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Maplewood will head out on the road to face off against Cambridge Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cochranton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
