Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Calexico's 11th in Last 12 Outings

Calexico hadn't done well against Southwest EC recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Eagles on Tuesday, they had to take a 6-2 loss.

David Lara tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Randy Baez was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ander Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Calexico has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest EC, the defeat snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 22-4 record.

Calexico wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Vista on the 21st. As for Southwest EC, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-8 loss against Mt. Carmel on the 21st.
