Football Recap: Gunn Comes Up Short

Gunn extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. The game between the Titans and the Fremont Firebirds didn't end well, with the Titans falling 27-9. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Firebirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.

Jaden Liu threw for 92 yards and one touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes. Keith Lopez was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards and one TD.

Fremont's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. The game was the first time they have beaten Gunn on their field since September 23, 2016.

Fremont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dominic Hemenez led the charge by rushing for 96 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Kevin Kowal, who rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gunn is set to take on their familiar foe Los Altos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Fremont will challenge rival Terra Nova at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
