Baseball Recap: Menifee County Wins Going Away Against Cordia

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Carter, Menifee County was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Cordia Lions 17-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Lucas Kelly was incredible, going 2-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Bradley Davis was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Menifee County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Menifee County's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-19. As for Cordia, they dropped their record down to 4-21 with the defeat, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Menifee County will head out to challenge East Ridge at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cordia, they will venture away from home to take on Pineville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mountain Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.13 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
