Basketball Game Preview: Brookville Bees vs. Amherst County Lancers

The Brookville Bees will challenge the Amherst County Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Brookville and four for Amherst County.

Last Tuesday, Brookville took a blow against Glass, falling 70-30. While losing is never fun, the Bees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Amherst County lost 63-37 to Heritage on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lancers have suffered against the Pioneers since January 26, 2021.

Brookville will have to keep a close watch on Colton Christian and Levi Campbell, a pair of players who had a big impact on Amherst County's prior game. Christian posted nine points, while Campbell had seven points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Those three steals gave Campbell a new career-high.

Amherst County's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Brookville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Everything came up roses for Brookville against Amherst County when the teams last played last Monday, as the team secured a 59-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brookville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
