Recap: Derry Trojans vs. Burrell Bucs
The Derry Trojans had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 29-22 victory over Burrell on Friday. The win was just what Derry needed coming off of a 45-7 loss in their prior game.
Ahmad Ward was on fire: he rushed for 249 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry.
When it comes to explaining why Burrell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Devin Beattie. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Derry's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Burrell, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Derry will be playing in front of their home fans against Ligonier Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ligonier Valley is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Burrell, they will head out on the road to face off against Apollo Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
