Softball Game Preview: Bowie Pirates vs. McLeod Longhorns

The Bowie Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the McLeod Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McLeod took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bowie, who comes in off a win.

Bowie is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Maud 22-7 on Tuesday.

Alleyah Franco was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over 6.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring five runs while going 2-for-5. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abigail Dial was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Allen, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, McLeod suffered their closest defeat since February 24, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Maud by a score of 3-1. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McLeod's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Bowie, their record is now 6-8.
