Hobbs fell to Cleveland 52-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Carlsbad made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,363 from 4,079. The improvement was largely due to a 16-0 victory over La Cueva last week.
Clovis's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dakota Yandell threw for 144 and 2 touchdowns and Travon Sopila had 144 yards receiving. On the ground Kamal Cass chipped in 125 yards.
Sopila was the best receiver in 5A District 4 this week as the Wildcats topped Sandia. Sopila racked up 2 receptions for 144 yards.
6-foot-5 quarterback Rodney Holcon of the Cavemen is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,295. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Sopila. The Clovis star has 16 catches for 431 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Eagles and Clovis. Hobbs enters the game ranked 21st in the state, while Eric Roanhaus' team ranks 12th.
The Wildcats led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Matadors. Yandell in the win.
