Coral Gables's game back in December of 2024 was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They really took it to the Jackson Generals for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-31 victory. The Cavaliers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Coral Gables found their leader in freshman Jenae McKinney, who posted 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which McKinney has scored at least a third of Coral Gables' points. Another player making a difference was Jasmin Abu-Zaraybah, who had 12 points.

Jackson's loss came despite strong showings from Mya Padilla and Madeline Acosta. Padilla almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards, while Acosta scored no points and four steals. Those four steals gave Acosta a new career-high. Riane Cato also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

With the win, Coral Gables broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8. As for Jackson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coral Gables wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 43-39 defeat against Braddock on the 8th. Jackson has also already played their next contest, a 40-24 loss against American on the 7th.
