Caledonia and La Crescent are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Caledonia will be strutting in after a victory while La Crescent will be coming in after a loss.
Caledonia took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Lewiston-Altura with a sharp 9-1 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Reid Klug made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Schmitz, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Garrett Konz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, La Crescent's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jordan. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lancers, who until this game were averaging 3.13 runs allowed.
Caledonia has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for La Crescent, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-2.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Caledonia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like La Crescent struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Caledonia couldn't quite finish off La Crescent when the teams last played back in April and fell 3-1. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
