Softball Recap: Newsome Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Newsome never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Sumner Stingrays. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly two runs.

The result came thanks to Allyson Conner's shutout, as she gave up just a hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sarai Nicholas was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

The win (which was Newsome's seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Sumner, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

Newsome will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Plant at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Sumner, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
