Basketball Recap: Garces Memorial Takes a Loss

Garces Memorial lost against Centennial on January 9th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Garces Memorial Rams took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centennial Golden Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 706th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 315th).

It was another big night for Michael Gutierrez, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points for Centennial. Another player making a difference was Brendan Keefer-Johns, who posted five points in addition to 12 boards and three blocks.

Garces Memorial has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Centennial, their record is now 14-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garces Memorial has already played their next matchup (against Stockdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Centennial will square off against Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.6 points per game this season.
