Softball Recap: Woodson Takes a Loss

Woodson fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Fairfax on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cavaliers have suffered against the Lions since April 11, 2019.

Delaney Fleming spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Woodson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maia Kim, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Woodson and nudges their season record down to 3-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Fairfax, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 3-10 record.
