Recap: Neumann-Goretti Saints vs. Heritage Huskies
The Neumann-Goretti Saints put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 68-59 victory over Heritage. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Neumann-Goretti has scored all year.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Neumann-Goretti to victory, but perhaps none more so than Larenzo Jerkins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Jerkins' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Torrey Brooks Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Levi Beckwith, who shot 4-for-5 from long range and dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Beckwith has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jon Mwanda, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Neumann-Goretti's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Neumann-Goretti and Mooresville will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mooresville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Neumann-Goretti likes a good challenge. Heritage and Grovetown will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Grovetown is ranked 135th in Georgia, while Heritage is ranked 134th in North Carolina).
