Football Game Preview: Bob Jones Patriots vs. Austin Black Bears + How To Watch

Bob Jones hasn't had much luck against Austin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Black Bears at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Friday, Bob Jones didn't have quite enough to beat Sparkman and fell 29-26. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly three points.

Meanwhile, Austin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 21-17 to Huntsville. The Black Bears gained 53 more yards on the day, but it was the Panthers that made the best use of them.

Bob Jones will need to focus on slowing down Qadir Lyle, one of several Austin players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 323 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. 149 of those passing yards were hauled in by Alvin Jones.

Bob Jones' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Austin, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Bob Jones ended up a good deal behind Austin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 42-28. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
