Soccer Game Preview: Redwood vs. Golden West

Redwood is 2-8 against Golden West since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Redwood Rangers will challenge the Golden West Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. Redwood will be strutting in after a win while Golden West will be coming in after a loss.

Redwood will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Thursday, then bounced right back against Monache on Wednesday. Redwood's defense stepped up to hand Monache a 4-0 shutout. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Marauders are ranked 971st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Golden West unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Porterville.

Redwood's victory bumped their record up to 8-5-9. As for Golden West, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5-2.
