Basketball Recap: Daphne Anderson and Peyton Brady Secure Win for Louisa County

Louisa County lost to Orange County back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Louisa County Lions came out on top against the Orange County Fighting Hornets by a score of 59-51. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Louisa County was led to victory by Peyton Brady and Daphne Anderson. Brady posted 20 points and six rebounds, while Anderson went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points in addition to five assists and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Anderson a new career-high in blocks. Katelyn Cheely was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Louisa County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

Several Fighting Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chloe Hebert, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 rebounds. Hebert has become a key player for Orange County: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least eight boards, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sydney Hearl, who scored nine points.

Louisa County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Orange County, they dropped their record down to 6-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Louisa County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-37 win against William Monroe on the 18th. Orange County has also already played their next game, a 64-43 victory against Monticello on the 21st.
