Preview: Bethel Christian Academy Eagles vs. Haywood Christian Academy Red Wolves
Bethel Christian Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Haywood Christian Academy Red Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, the Eagles suffered a rough 44-23 loss at the hands of the Crusaders. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.
Despite the loss, the Eagles saw an underclassman step up: Will Jones dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Jones has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, Haywood Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 46-25 walloping at the hands of The Master's Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Haywood Christian Academy has suffered yet this season.
The Eagles' defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Haywood Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Bethel Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Haywood Christian Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2023, losing 51-32. Can Bethel Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
