Soccer Game Preview: Martin vs. Arlington

The Martin Warriors will square off against the Arlington Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Martin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.8 goals per game this season.

Martin will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Friday, then bounced right back against Sam Houston on Tuesday. Martin's defense stepped up to hand Sam Houston a 5-0 shutout. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Texans are ranked 462nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Martin hit Sam Houston with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Xitlaly Ortega (2), Tania Solis, Hailey Swafford, and Lily Fratangelo.

Meanwhile, Arlington hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They and Lamar finished up their match with a 0-0 draw.

Martin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. Arlington's draw makes their record 7-0-3 this season.
