Basketball Recap: La Quinta Comes Up Short

La Quinta has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laguna Beach Breakers on Saturday.

Laguna Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Cheng led the charge by putting up 22 points. Cheng's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Brody Azadian was another key player, posting 15 points.

La Quinta's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Laguna Beach, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.

La Quinta will be taking part in a tournament against Indio at 8:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Laguna Beach, they will take on San Jacinto in a tournament on Monday. Laguna Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully San Jacinto likes a good challenge.
