Recap: East Wake Warriors vs. Smithfield-Selma Spartans
The East Wake Warriors's ten-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 66-3 win over Smithfield-Selma. East Wake's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
East Wake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lyelah Pitters out in front who scored 14 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pitters has scored all season. Cadyn Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
East Wake's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-12. As for Smithfield-Selma, they dropped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.
East Wake won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Southern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Southern Wayne comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Smithfield-Selma, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against South Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. South Johnston will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
