Baseball Recap: Round Valley Takes a Loss

Round Valley was the 11-7 winner over Phoenix Christian when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Elks took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Saturday. The Elks just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Jeffery Cochran was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. JJ Logan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Round Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Phoenix Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.

Round Valley will head out on the road to square off against Many Farms at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lobos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.18 runs per game on average), something the Elks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Phoenix Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-3 win against Camp Verde on the 14th.
