After both having extra time off, the Bryce Valley Mustangs and the Green River Pirates will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bryce Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.
Bryce Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Wayne last Saturday. Bryce Valley took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wayne. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Badgers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Bryce Valley's loss came about despite a quality game from Antonio Moreno, who posted nine points. The dominant performance gave Moreno a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Andrus, who put up five points and five steals.
Meanwhile, Green River entered their tilt with Caprock Academy last Saturday with 15 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 16. They were the clear victor by a 59-36 margin over the Eagles. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 95th in Utah, while the Eagles are ranked 285th in Colorado), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bryce Valley better keep an eye on Rolando Anguiano. He was instrumental in Green River's win, putting up 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Jason Hernandez was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 15 points along with six assists and five boards.
Green River was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caprock Academy only nine assists.
Green River's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.8 points over those games. As for Bryce Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bryce Valley has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 21.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Green River struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Bryce Valley came up short against Green River when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 49-42. Thankfully for Bryce Valley, Luis Hernandez (who posted 22 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
