Baseball Recap: Simla Takes a Loss

Simla dropped to 6-5 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Flatirons Academy Bison, falling 8-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Cubs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Simla saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathaniel Cauthon, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Flatirons Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

On Flatirons Academy's side, Caleb Doughty made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Doughty has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Preston Miller was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dillon Sauer, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Simla will challenge Evangel Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cubs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Flatirons Academy, they will square off against Estes Park at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
