Baseball Game Preview: Grissom Tigers vs. Bob Jones Patriots

Grissom is 0-10 against Bob Jones since April of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. Grissom will face off against Bob Jones at 11:00 a.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Grissom duked it out with Guntersville on Thursday. Grissom's pitchers stepped up to hand Guntersville a 4-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Dalton Dardin and Charlie Cassingham made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Dardin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cassingham didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Dardin a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Dardin went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Cassingham scored a run while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Stroble, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Bob Jones waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Senators.

Bob Jones' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Grissom, their record is now 16-7.

Grissom came up short against Bob Jones in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Grissom avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
