Soccer Game Preview: South Caldwell vs. Freedom

The South Caldwell Spartans will challenge the Freedom Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

South Caldwell is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Watauga on Monday. The Spartans came up short against the Pioneers, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, South Caldwell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Watauga are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, Freedom was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to St. Stephens.

South Caldwell's loss dropped their record down to 1-6-4. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-1.

South Caldwell beat Freedom by a goal in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 1-0. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
